POZI Y-BOT SOLUTION HOURS Artrocker Presents
Wednesday 19th June 2019
@ Aces And Eights Bar
Legendary Underground Rock & Punk Club night and radio show.
Formed in 2018, POZI are a three piece from South London who've used the skeletal sound of drums, bass and violin to create discordant, visceral post-punk.
Marrying influences such as ESG, Au Pairs, The Fall, Devo and Television Personalities, their debut album, PZ1, out now on PRAH Recordings, is filled with socio-political carols and reflections of modern life played out via ‘jagged post-punk frantic rhythms and heart stopping rugged melodies’ In addition to poor phone addition and mental health provision, lyrical subjects range from the Grenfell Tower tragedy of 2017 to Chinese human rights transgressions. Each are unpacked vividly. Vocalist, Burroughs is a colourful orator yet also direct and raw in his response to such sensitive issues. Although they share little in common musically, POZI unwittingly chime with current politicised UK indie acts du jour Idles and Sleaford Mods in distilling their anger into impactful mantra.
Spawned from the ashes of London art-rock group Manflu and the legacy of My Bloody Valentine, Y-BOT present a new vision of alternative 'noise-hop' in the form of their debut album “Young Blood Old Tricks”. Y-BOT brings a mutated mix of prog-punk, menacing bass and drums and experimental fragmented lyricism. Produced by Rory Atwell, (Kate Tempest, Kasms), and voted Album of the week on The Artrocker Radio Show on Resonance 104.4 FM, London, 28th November 2017, the 10 tracks on “Young Blood Old Tricks” feature influences as diverse as Magma, Eric B. and Rakim, Can, Minutemen and Kool Keith, among others. 'Flock,Herd or Hive' produced with Collapsed Lung's Ant Chapman followed in 2018 and there is a new EP 'Quantum' recorded and set for release in July.
SOLUTION HOURS »
Solution Hours are a two-piece band from London, comprised of Charlotte (vocals, drums) and Andrew (guitar, ambience). With spoken word-inspired vocals, dynamic drumming and unique guitar tunings underscored by ambient soundscapes played from a tape machine, the band have devised a sound that defies the usual trappings that a two-piece face, drawing comparisons to Life Without Buildings and bands from the heyday of 90s emo and slowcore in turn.
