Heal Thyself Songman!”: The Ger Lane Solo Show + Special Guest Rob Corcoran + Vinyl Interludes from Dan Grigson
Heal Thyself Songman »
Ger Lane is a singer and songwriter from Limerick, Ireland based in London and he begins his exciting new solo show residency “Heal Thyself Songman!” here at Aces and Eights every third Tuesday onwards from Nov 19th.
So what might make you travel to Tufnell Park on a dark Tuesday in November? Well the very excellent Rob Corcoran as his special guest and legendary Dan Grigson spinning some choice vinyl for a start.
As for the man himself, the irony of Ger Lane playing at Aces and Eights has not been lost on him. All puns aside, it’s cards on the table time. “Heal thyself Songman!” is a show that brings him back to the stage in a solo capacity from the studio wilds with the upcoming single “The New Revolution in Love”, the first recorded offering from that difficult wilderness. An ace in his pocket? Well let’s just hold onto that poker face time for now.The HTS theme originates from his inarticulate attempt to find words to this new single’s expansive and inspiring music leading, in turn, to new revelations about music making and its place in his life and refreshing his somewhat ambivalent attitude of the one man and guitar experience to one of celebration and playfulness. Necessity really is the mother of all invention, isn't it?

“This man Rob can surely sing, and he has a great band behind him. He says something that needs to be said”
Dublin troubadour is a solid favourite on the UK/London folk and American scene with his songs already being covered by Christy Moore. His lyrically compelling, beautifully observed songs are drenched in Celtic soul, drawing from the same deep wells as Van Morrison and Mike Scott. The heart-on-sleeve poetry of his North amercian influences (John Prine, Hank Williams, Leonard Cohen etc) run through his songs. Rob’s 2017 album Inverse Alchemy has blown away viewers at Americana UK, Fatea, Folking.com and many others.
“From the moment he steps on stage, Corcoran perspries authenticity in that fluid way that a hundred record execs have tried and failed to manufacture”. Ann Frankenstein Jazz FM
Rob’s live shows, be they solo or with his alt folk supergroup ‘The Necessary Evils’, always leave audiences looking for more.
